Redesign the Buying Commuterline-Ticket and Purchased-Ticket Experience at Gotransit - Gojek

Overview

Gotransit is an app by Gojek that providing public transportation schedule information, purchasing commuter train tickets, price information, and best route information. However, I thought of developing the transaction flow of purchasing commuter train tickets. This research aimed to provide insights to me based on users’ behavior when purchasing commuter train tickets using Gotransit.

Objectives

This Research aimed to gather insights derived from user behavior. My objective was to identify the challenges users encounter while buying commuter tickets through the Gotransit application. Additionally, I aimed to offer suggestions for potential improvement that could be applied into feature development.

Methodology

In this research, the Qualitative method of In-Depth Interview was used. A total of 3active Gotransit users were interviewed, with each session lasting around 15 to 30 minutes.

Sample Specifications

  1. Gotransit Active user — having purchased commuter tickets up to 3 times in the last 1 months;
  2. Male/Female;
  3. Jabodetabek Area;
  4. >18 y/o.

Key Informations

These are the things we want to explore in this research:

  1. User Profile;
  2. General behavior when using the GoTransit feature to purchase commuter train tickets;
  3. General behavior when using a competitor application to purchase commuter train tickets.

Conduct Research

We explored the behavior of Gotransit users in purchasing commuter train tickets for their daily needs through interviews conducted via Microsoft Teams Meeting. Due to time limitations and respondent availability, I was only able to interview 3 respondents. These respondents have used Go-Transit in the past year

This project was highly satisfying and significantly enhanced my design abilities. The user research procedures, in particular, were notable for bringing in new insights and viewpoints.

The UIUX/Product Design program offered by dibimbing.id has greatly enhanced my understanding of learning UI/UX. Moreover, it has encouraged me to consider forging a professional journey as a UI/UX Designer once the program is completed.

Although there’s continuous opportunity for design enhancement, I was happy to hear positive comments on the final wireframe and mockups.
